Work with audio
Understand audio playback and timeline waveform behavior in YADL visual documents.
Work with audio
Audio can support an animated explanation when it is referenced by the document and used with a timeline. Keep the visual understandable without audio, then use sound to reinforce—not replace—the sequence.
Timeline waveforms
When the browser can fetch and decode an authored audio source, the timeline shows a waveform to help with timing. It may show loading, retry, or unavailable states while the source is being read.
Some cross-origin audio can play normally but cannot be decoded by the browser for waveform analysis. In that case YADL does not invent a waveform; use the playback result and your source timing instead.
Good practice
- Use audio you have permission to use and keep the source stable for the life of the document.
- Check a timeline-bearing document from the beginning before exporting.
- Do not rely on waveform visibility as proof that an export will include or synchronize a source; resolve visible readiness issues before submitting a video export.
See Timeline for playback and clip controls, and Help if a source cannot be analyzed.
